This program unpacks Playstation 3 Theme files (.p3t) so that you can touch-up an existing theme to your likings or use a certain wallpaper from it (as many themes have multiple). But remember, if you use content from another theme and release it, be sure to give credit!

Download for Windows: p3textractor.zip

Instructions:

Download p3textractor.zip from above. Extract the files to a folder with a program such as WinZip or WinRAR. Now there are multiple ways to extract the theme.

The first way is to simply open the p3t file with p3textractor.exe. If you don’t know how to do this, right click the p3t file and select Open With. Alternatively, open the p3t file and it will ask you to select a program to open with. Click Browse and find p3textractor.exe from where you previously extracted it to. It will open CMD and extract the theme to extracted.[filename]. After that, all you need to do for any future p3t files is open them and it will extract.

The second way is very simple. Just drag the p3t file to p3textractor.exe. It will open CMD and extract the theme to extracted.[filename].

For the third way, first put the p3t file you want to extract into the same folder as p3textractor.exe. Open CMD and browse to the folder with p3extractor.exe. Enter the following:
p3textractor filename.p3t [destination path]Replace filename with the name of the p3t file, and replace [destination path] with the name of the folder you want the files to be extracted to. A destination path is not required. By default it will extract to extracted.filename.

  1. I like this theme…this is probably the best one you’ve made so far. I think you can still top this:

    1. You can replace the trophy icon…to make it look more like a trophy…

    2. You can replace the power button icon as well to make it stand out a little bit better.

    3. You can also change the Internet Browser icon too. I know everyone loves Firefox…so do I…but hey it a suggestion for this one.I know people are not fans of IE7 or 8, but the icon looks real nice.

    4. Lastly, you can remove the previous backgrounds that you have for this theme and replace them with new ones…make more Computer/Video Games based….to give a more techy feel to it.

    5. another suggestion..you can always update the music and video icons…

    I hope this helps!

  2. Hi Paul!

I will try to do this in my next release.

Today i’ve changed the user and friends icons. Replaced the Masterchief icons with those:

I think it fits much better.

The new Wallpaper (i have reworked an Alienware Wallpaper, created the blue lines around the head and mixed them with the AW Wall)

“5. another suggestion..you can always update the music and video icons…”

The XMB ones or the file types?

    Thanks you for the tips!

  3. The user and friends icon look perfect…actually beyond perfect…if there is such a thing.

What about the trophy icon? Were you able to fix this one too? If you haven’t, I looked at some of the other themes that guys made, and they have an actual trophy icon on there…sorry if I didn’t provide you a link for this, but I can give you an idea to look. Since you upload your PS3 on this website…look in the Computers/Technoloy categories and take a look at the other theme…hopefully it will give you an idea.

As for the music and video icons…I was basically meaning the file type ones, but if you want to change both of them…then it’s your call.

I like the Alienware wallpaper…I’m a big fan of what they’re doing right now with building and customizing computers..it’s great! The only thing is that you should do is get rid of the PREVIOUS BACKGROUNDS that you had for this theme..(NO, keep the AlienWare wallpaper on there!!!)..and put brand new backgrounds on there.

for example: like a Windows Vista Wallpaper(perferably HD resolution…please?…you google this and you’ll find those wallpapers) or a Video game Wallpaper.

    For Video Game Wallpapers:
    go to this website http://www.ps3walls.com

There are 3 categories you can choose from:
    1. Official Sony PS3 Wallpapers
    2. PS3 XMB Wallpapers
    3. Games
Just look through them…by the way..most of them are 1080p or 1080i wallpapers and for laptops that have higher resolution like 1920×1200. Think there some wallpapers that you’ll definitely love man.

I hope I specified this tip and ideas to make your theme even better!!!

    Paul

  4. one more thing…I forgot to ask.

Did you change the power button icon to make it more techy and stand out like I suggested?

  5. Hi Paul.

First, thank you for helping me so much.

Yes the Trophy will be changed of course and the file types (if i can find some matching ones) and Wallpapers too (yes, i keep the AW WP’s and add some vista stuff)

The Power button: The nanosuit ones is back because it matches very well with this:

I’ve created a new Wallpaper that looks like an media center interface (backround of interface is black brushed metal [but can be changed by me] with system stats on the left side and right side(keep in mind that the system monitor not really works untill sony give us the function)

The new MC interface is in use at some friends PS3 for tests and they said it looks really really awsome.

I decided to set the version not to 1.62
    it’s now v2.0 because it’s a bigger “update”.

Im still working on the interface so the theme release is in 1 or 2 weeks.

    Thanks and greetz,
    Delay

  6. Man…this sounds like a perfect theme already. I can’t wait to test it out for you. And I know you have some friends who are big fans of your theme creations…by the way..add me to that list too!

Theme release to 1 or 2 weeks…that’s no problem.
